Action Axes
Access to Health Care
Many people living in Greece find it impossible to access essential health services - even though they are fully entitled to them. For the most part, these people belong to vulnerable social groups, such as the homeless, the poor, the elderly, undocumented migrants, refugees and women, as well as people with limited or no access to the National Health System.
Emergency Response
Ever since its establishment, Médecins du Monde Greece has been on the side of people affected by the consequences of natural disasters and conflicts. MdM's mobilisation to provide assistance includes both the deployment of human resources to the affected areas to address immediate needs in the areas of Health, Protection, Psychosocial Support, as well as the collection and distribution of material humanitarian aid.
Social Care
Housing insecurity has been increasing rapidly in Europe and Greece in recent years. Based on their long experience in Reception and Housing of vulnerable groups living in precarious housing conditions, MdM operates in a holistic framework of approach, following "Duty of Care" procedures and policies as well as specific protocols for protection from sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH).
Integration & Inclusion
Médecins du Monde articulates a more effective claim to human rights by maintaining a constant operational and human presence alongside vulnerable communities, where they can understand and listen closely to their needs and problems, as well as the broad dimensions of the social exclusion experienced by these individuals.
Strengthening Civil Society
Médecins du Monde seeks to advocate for and protect the fundamental rights of vulnerable people through their continuous presence in international, national and local networks of organised civil society and in relevant working groups, while at the same time, through collaborations and partnerships, they aim to enhance the social impact of Civil Society.
Development Action
Building on the foundation of strengthening the resilience of vulnerable communities in developing countries, Médecins du Monde is working steadily to secure essential medical equipment and supplies in hospital structures and health centers as well as directly in the community, supporting efforts of institutional reconstruction and social recovery as well as strengthening utility systems in the wake of emergencies.
