What we do
WE ARE HERE TO CAUSE AN IMMEDIATE AND REAL CHANGE
Change begins with ourselves, by many small efforts from each and every one of us. Every day. Every moment. In this way, change becomes a practice. What we see today is change, what we offer tomorrow is greater. Change towards social solidarity starts with a drop and the drop becomes an ocean.
Médecins du Monde plans and implements multisectoral projects and initiatives that reflect the ever-changing needs of the beneficiary population. It is a human rights advocacy organisation that is here to cause an immediate and real change in the lives of vulnerable people through care, protection, social inclusion and integration and systematic advocacy.
Médecins du Monde’s primary goal is to provide health care and psychosocial assistance services. However, activities extend beyond the scope of service provision. The long-term goal of Médecins du Monde is to ensure unhindered access to health and to secure the Right to Health for the most vulnerable.
CROSS-CULTURAL APPROACH
The cross-cultural approach concerns the way in which it is possible to communicate and interact with people from different cultural backgrounds (origin – nationality, religion, gender/gender identity, sexual orientation, etc.). The cross-cultural approach focuses on the individual, in whom we recognise the ability to make their own decisions, while at the same time their diversity and needs are accepted and understood without being criticised.
SOCIAL AND COMPREHENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT
The “Case Management” approach means that the beneficiary is actively involved in the support and empowerment process, beyond the formal processing of their claim. A key principle for the case management cycle to work is the active participation and inclusion of the beneficiary. The Social Service creates a support plan together with the beneficiary, based on their personal needs. The plan is put in place and monitored until the cycle is completed and the final evaluation is carried out.
