Care for displaced persons from Ukraine seeking protection in Greece
Médecins du Monde organises and operates on a daily basis an integrated and cross-sectoral system of support services focusing on the case management approach, including the individual electronic file of each beneficiary, aiming at the relief and care of displaced persons from Ukraine in Greece.
In the context of covering the emergency needs of refugees and displaced persons from Ukraine in Greece, the following services and benefits are provided through the facilities of Médecins du Monde:
Primary Health Care
- Clinic for the care and monitoring of people with chronic and non-communicable diseases
- Child Health Care (paediatric check-up and infant and child care services)
- Women’s Health Care (family planning, contraception, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, prenatal, perinatal and postnatal care)
- Information and vaccination against Covid19
- Orthopaedic clinic
- Cardiology Clinic
- Management of referrals to secondary and tertiary health care
- Emergency pharmaceutical care
Mental Health Care
- Psychological first aid and empowerment for adults and children
- Reduction of psychological stress and stress management
- Individualised psychological assistance and psycho-education sessions for vulnerable displaced Ukrainian citizens
- Awareness raising on mental health issues
Social Assistance and Administrative Support (Help Desk)
- Support for administrative issues and solving public administration problems (issuing of AMKA, VAT, Unemployment Card, etc.)
- Social counselling (promotion in the labour market, finding a housing solution)
- Promoting and facilitating the enrolment of children in schools and creative activity centres
- Provision of interpretation from Ukrainian or Russian into Greek
- Provision of material/food aid
The project is funded by the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (EEA Grants 2014-2021) through the Ministry of Development and Investment. The EEA Grants represent the contribution of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway to a green, competitive and inclusive Europe.
