On the side of those who need us
MdM-Greece, in agreement and collaboration with local regional and municipal authorities, are starting their way tomorrow 06.03.2021 to Elassona in order to support those affected by the recent earthquakes that took place in the region.
A nine-member team consisting of experienced members of the organization – medical and nursing staff, social workers and psychologists – are ready to leave for the area in order to offer immediate assistance and support to the residents. The team will accompany a quantity of essentials for our fellow citizens who cannot return home.
More specifically, MdM-Greece sends tents, mattresses, sleeping bags, blankets, medical and para-medical consumables, etc. to the area. The members of the organization will further assess the current situation with a view to the continued and targeted provision of appropriate, needs-tailored assistance in the coming days.
At the same time, the organization’s field staff will provide on-site medical assistance to those who need it. Knowing the feeling of shock, loss and fear that arise in such situations, we also stand ready to offer psychosocial support to our fellow human beings by helping on the spot to manage the anger and anguish of those who have lost their homes and feel an expected insecurity for the future. MdM-Greece field mission will initially head towards Potamia area and the approximately 10 surrounding villages that have suffered the greatest disasters.
