With CPR for babies and adults, treatment of minor injuries and training in basic first aid and physical hygiene, the first training of the refugees living in the Open Facility of Temporary Reception in Shisto, in the framework of the thematic activity “Help at home”, was completed.
The action was carried out with the cooperation of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, the International Organization for Migration and Médecins du Monde, which provide its services in the framework of the first European program for the training of refugees in health emergencies.
The Shisto Facility, where the majority of the country’s most vulnerable asylum seekers live, has now 37 trained refugees (19 women, 17 men and 3 extremely vulnerable) who are able to contribute at any time to emergency response. Furthermore, at the end of the training, helpful materials were handed over to the director of the facility for the medical clinic.
MdM-Greece works ‘with’ rather than ‘for’ the vulnerable populations they serve in a common process of finding solutions and improving their daily lives. Therefore, along this axis, MdM-Greece plans and explores new, innovative ideas and programs that empower the most vulnerable fellow people, aiming to reduce inter-community tensions, bridge differences, integration and inclusion.
The training of refugees is implemented under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” with funding from the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
