At the same time, Médecins du Monde teams visited and provided support in inaccessible areas such as the destroyed villages of Pelion. In addition, direct delivery of material aid by MdM-Greece teams has been carried out to 13 school units in the affected areas as well as to affected people who cannot move or are in inaccessible areas.
As the winter season approaches, the needs of those affected in Thessaly are growing.
Flood victims need ongoing support, both in terms of health and psychosocial support. The impact of floods on human health is complex and far-reaching, and identifying vulnerability is a major challenge.
To this day, Médecins du Monde has so far provided services to 600 people, including local elderly residents and children.
The storm may have passed, but the needs of those affected are great, they are still here and we must intensify our efforts. Storm Daniel has left behind great destruction and serious problems affecting the health and psychosocial situation of the citizens.
We all have a duty to help the people of Thessaly until their needs are met and not to forget them.
