The project is aiming to operate an Open Accommodation Centre for the mid-term accommodation of vulnerable women asylum seekers and their children with an individualized approach to the provision of services during the period of the examination process of their asylum application. The ultimate purpose of the project is to protect and support the beneficiaries during the period of their asylum application by ensuring quality accommodation standards and all of the necessary services they might need such as psychosocial support, legal counselling, recreational and leisure activities, health care, nutrition, safety and hygiene.

The Accommodation Centre operates 24/7 in order to provide qualitative reception conditions and supporting services on a daily basis for 44 beneficiaries with a comprehensive manner. The referral system is established according to the national framework on the reception and asylum. The project is implemented with funding from EEA Grants Programme II: Asylum & Migration.

The project “A step Forward” is being implemented under the “Asylum and Migration” programme in Greece, implemented by Doctors of the World. The “Asylum and Migration” programme in Greece, financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, was awarded a total budget of 16,5 million euros as part of the EEA Grants 2014 – 2021. The program aspires to contribute to ensuring legal protection, support and care for the most vulnerable asylum seekers, with emphasis on unaccompanied children. The Fund Operator for the “Asylum and Migration” programme in Greece is SOL Consulting S.A in partnership with Human Rights 360.
