Providing Education and Immediate Accommodation to Migrant Children in Greece – PEDIA
Doctors of the World, in cooperation with the International Organization of Migration, are implementing the project “Providing Education and Immediate Accommodation in Migrant Children in Greece – PEDIA”. This project corresponds to the opening of hotels in Athens and in Northern Greece as an emergency response to the presence of Unaccompanied Child Migrants on the Greek islands. Doctors of the World provides four (4) medical mobile units including one driver and one doctor per unit who offer Primary Health Care services on a weekly basis in each hotel. The organization also provides nurses operating in a daily basis in each hotel.
Doctors of the World’s medical teams begun operating in July 16th, 2018 which is the continuation of the program “Emergency Response in Accommodating Unaccompanied Migrant Children – ERAcUMiC”. The medical teams will cease their activities at the 31st of December 2018, according to the “Providing Education and Immediate Accommodation in Migrant Children in Greece – PEDIA” project which is funded by the Asylum, Integration Migration and Integration Fund of the European Union and is implemented in close collaboration with the International Organization of Migration.
