A large number of children nowadays lack proper vaccination coverage, with the majority coming from families with unemployed parents who consequently don’t have social insurance and therefore nor do their children as well as from migrant families which have administrative and / or language barriers to access the National Health System’s services. An additional barrier is that the cost of the necessary medical consultations and vaccines, for several families living in Greece, cannot be covered.

The project “Childhood Immunization” is implemented mainly in the Open Polyclinics of MdM in Athens, Thessaloniki, Perama, Chania and Patras, but also covers rural parts of Greece, through an adequately equipped mobile unit. “Childhood Immunization” offers pediatric examinations and vaccination coverage, according to the Greek National Immunization Schedule (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, HEP A & B, varicella, HPV, MenC, PCV, MMR).
The program is implemented by Médecins du Monde with the support of the “The Hellenic Initiative».
