Tanzania has become one of the most important "crossroads" for drug trafficking in Africa
Place of "transactions" and but also lace of "power", the country currently counts over 25 000 drug users who get their dose by injection. A constantly increasing number in cities and where the use of heroin by injection spreads and thus broadcasts, both HIV and hepatitis.

Last week was the final battle for Yopougon – and full control of Abidjan. It was fought out block for block, street by street. Watching the elimination of unorganised militias in a densely populated area of over fifty square kilometres must have been a nightmare. While we were visiting some of the health centres in the worst hit areas, the tension of the recent events could almost be touched.

The MDM entering Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya

Africa is experiencing an unprecedented period of drought after two seasons with consecutive poor rains (2010-2011). Because of drought and political instability, particularly in Somalia, tens of thousands of refugees flocking massively in camps in Kenya and Ethiopia, which are already supernumerary.
