PREVENTIVE DENTAL CARE PROJECT
The Smile Project provides primary and secondary dental care to adults and children of families who are in a threatened financial situation and are unable to cover the costs of dental care, while also aiming to provide dental care to adults. The project includes medical visits in regions all over Greece as well as information campaigns in cooperation with local authorities.
Médecins du Monde Greece implements the Smile Project, aiming at early diagnosis and health prevention in the general population and the provision of integrated and quality health services in various regions of the country. At the same time, the aim is to raise awareness and provide oral health education in local communities, as well as linkage and referral to the public health system. The Smile project offers preventive dental check-ups through mobile clinic visits in areas of the country.
A team of professional dentists at the Athens Polyclinic and through a well-equipped mobile dental unit, which visits schools and various regions of the country, provides dental treatment to vulnerable social groups of young people and adults, also emphasizing the need for dental prevention and oral hygiene.
